Pretty Pictures Week Continues

I can't let Ψ*Ψ have all the glory when it comes to pretty colors. Mitch at Chemicalforumsblag has pretty much christened this the week of pretty pictures, especially because of Beth Halford's pretty materials picture extravaganza in C&EN, so I decided to rock out my own. Although a lot of my stuff is ugly brown crap or ugly brown crap that shouldn't be ugly brown crap, I have a few gems in my collection. The stuff I make isn't brightly colored under visible light, but under a blacklight (that's a long-wave UV lamp for you technical types), some of these things glow. My favorite is allylpyrene, normally a bland yellow oil, but it glows a beautiful green under UV:

That's all I had, folks. All pretty and no substance: perfect for Fridays.

If you are allowed to say, are you going to polymerize that?

It is pretty. And a cool molecule.

Not polymerizing it, but also not allowed to say. ;)

Understood. Give us a heads up if you are going to present at a national meeting sometime, though. Your chemistry looks interesting.
