Japan!

Sometimes it's so fucking annoying that SciFinder doesn't have DOIs in their database. You'd think that would be, I dunno, useful to people, since they don't actually link to all online journals. Of course, you get what you pay for ($25,000 per user per year or something). Sure, SciFinder is a very useful research tool, but it reeks of highway robbery sometimes. (I love Beilstein, but those fuckers need to make a Mac OS X version. Now.)

Anyway. I was looking at papers on extended oligo-phenylenes when I happened upon this Bull. Chem. Soc. Jpn. paper from 1984 that describes the synthesis of some ridiculously cool-looking compounds. I had to stop reading it after these two figures, though:

Don't see it? Look closer:

Hehehehe. Oh Japan. You just made my day. There's no way that would have slid in an ACS journal. It gets better, though, with the figure next to it:

I was seriously giggling like a complete tool after those. Thanks Japan!

PS- In case you were wondering, yes, I am, in fact, an eight year-old.

Possibly because you're not an eight-year-old?

I don't trust people who don't laugh at poop jokes.

You see ninjas? Wow. You're like a superhero or something.

Well I AM a pirate. Pirates can see ninjas. And swashbuckle them in half. Yarr.
